About Us

Colin Peacock

I’ve been connected to the woodworking industry for over 40 years. Starting at the grass roots level with a 4-year apprenticeship course, ending in qualifications in Carpentry & Joinery.

I spent the first 20 years involved in joinery manufacturing covering various projects in solid timber and panel production, with over 14 years in production management.

For the last 20 years I’ve been involved in the supply of woodworking tooling, using my previously gained manufacturing knowledge, to advise on time and money saving solutions for the joinery and panel industry, working with small to large manufacturing companies throughout the UK.

In 2006 I devised the concept of the modular window system. This was an idea I developed for the small to medium sized joinery manufacturers who wanted to make various styles of windows in small quantities with a very simple machine set up. The tooling was designed to work on one machine; a spindle moulder with a flush mounted sliding table.

The original system was developed and sold whilst I was working for Trend Machinery.

Since starting my own business, CP Tooling and Machinery Ltd, the window tooling has evolved and we are now able to manufacture any type of system with unlimited flexibility, but with the original concept of minimum set-up time at its’ core.

My outlook has always been that it isn’t just about the price. I believe in listening to the customers’ requirements and issues, and then try to advise the best solution, using my years of production knowledge, where the customer will benefit in increased productivity and cost efficiency.

After completing ‘A’ levels in the mid-eighties I started working as an apprentice draughtsman for an engineering company specialising in mechanical handling.

I left the company after it re-located and joined KWO UK, a German manufacturer of router cutters and boring bits for the wood, plastic and aluminium industry. I started in the warehouse and worked in both internal and external sales, working directly with our dealer customers, before becoming UK Director in 1997.

In 2003 I was given the opportunity to launch a new range of industrial tooling, produced by Dimar, for Trend Machinery and Cutting Tools. Highlights of my time at Trend were our regular attendance at the ‘W’ shows at the NEC, Birmingham; supplying beam saw blades into some large end user panel producing manufacturers and assisting in the launch of the Modular Window System and the corresponding spindle moulder.

I left Trend in December 2015 and joined Colin Peacock at CP Tooling & Machinery as co. director.

During the 30 years I’ve been involved in the supply of tooling to the woodworking industry, I’ve seen skill levels diminish significantly. By supplying innovative tooling solutions, we are able to help small to medium sized companies operate on the same level as larger competitors with minimal investment.
